Conservation!
These large expanses of woodland are important in terms of conservation because of how ancient some of the forests are.
- It's often home to numerous endangered avian species, particularly the Spotted Owl or the Marbled Murrelet.
- This biome is regarded fiscally as profitable (namely for Douglas Fir, Redwoods, Cedars) so deforestation is a notable issue, as well as clear cutting entire areas of trees.
- Many national parks exist in this biome's domain.
- The Olympic forests in Washington are largely considered to be temperate rain forests. (Hoh Rain Forest)
- Coastal Redwood Forests in Northern CA (Redwood National Park)
- Quinalt Rainforest
